Coverage Probability of Double-IRS Assisted Communication Systems

open access: yesIEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2022
In this paper, we focus on the coverage probability of a double-intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) assisted wireless network and study the impact of multiplicative beamforming gain and correlated Rayleigh fading. In particular, we obtain a novel closed-form expression of the coverage probability of a single-input single-output (SISO) system assisted ...

Interplay between RNA‐protein interactions and RNA structures in gene regulation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Methodological advances in mapping transcriptome‐wide RNA‐protein interactions and RNA structures have started to uncover the potential of RNP conformations in gene regulation. Competing RNA–RNA, RNA‐protein and protein–protein interactions shape the compaction and function of RNPs throughout their lifetime and may provide novel therapeutic targets in ...

Multi-Connectivity Between Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial MIMO Systems

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
Communicating in a non-terrestrial network (NTN) has recently emerged as a promising technology to provide global seamless connectivity. Although low earth orbit (LEO) satellites in an NTN have been employed for providing ubiquitous coverage and high ...

Analysis of Load Balancing and Interference Management in Heterogeneous Cellular Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
To meet the current cellular capacity demands, proactive offloading is required in heterogeneous cellular networks (HetCNets) comprising of different tiers of base stations (BSs), e.g., small-cell BSs (sBSs) and conventional macro-cell BSs (mBSs).

Probability-Based User Management Algorithm for the Hybrid NOMA System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
In this paper, a novel hybrid non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system that combines the cooperative NOMA (C-NOMA), the original NOMA, and the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) is investigated. The probability-based user management algorithm (PUMA) is

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

On the meaning of coverage probabilities

open access: yesMetrologia, 2009
It has been argued that the probability associated with a coverage interval calculated following the procedure proposed in Supplement 1 to the GUM should be about equal to the proportion of independent intervals reckoned over time that contain the measurand (Willink 2006 Metrologia 43 L39–42, Hall 2008 Metrologia 45 L5–8, Possolo et al 2009 Metrologia ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
