Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Improving backdoor remote communication detection with covert channel feature analysis

open access: yes
This research introduces a novel framework, which supports the detection of covert timing channels by detailing generic covert timing channel features. The framework is developed using the design science research methodology and has been validated by gen-

Covert Communication Over a $K$ -User Multiple-Access Channel

open access: yes, 2019
International audienceWe consider a scenario in which K transmitters attempt to communicate covert messages reliably to a legitimate receiver over a discrete memoryless multiple-access channel (MAC) while simultaneously escaping detection from an ...

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Project Report: Analysis and Detection of Network Covert Channels

open access: yes, 2005
Covert channels are mechanisms for communicating information secretly. A network covert channel is a mechanism that can be used to leak information across a network in violation of a security policy.

Detection of IP Covert Timing Channels

open access: yesБезопасность информационных технологий, 2015
Covert timing channels became widespread with the increasing popularity of packet switching networks. Detection of these channels is the only approach to counter that does not lead to a decrease of channel’s capacity. Known methods of the IP covert timing channels detection were systematized.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

ProtoLeaks: A reliable and protocol-independent network covert channel

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a theoretical framework for a network covert channel based on enumerative combinatorics. It offers protocol independence and avoids detection by using a mimicry defense.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...
