IEEE Access Special Section Editorial: Latest Advances and Emerging Applications of Data Hiding

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Data hiding is the science and art of imperceptibly embedding some secret data, e.g., marks or messages, into a host media. The secret data are detected and extracted at a receiving end for various purposes.

Understanding and Circumventing Failure Mechanisms in Chalcogenide Optical Phase Change Material Ge2Sb2Se4Te

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Chalcogenide optical PCMs have gathered interest for their potential in compact, non‐volatile optics and photonics. Free‐space PCM metasurfaces require new considerations from phase change memory that need to be addressed for reliable scale‐up. Several failure mechanisms pertaining to free‐space PCM devices and layout methods are isolated to prevent ...

Covert Communication via Action-Dependent States

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory
This paper studies covert communication over channels with ADSI when the state is available either non-causally or causally at the transmitter. Covert communication refers to reliable communication between a transmitter and a receiver while ensuring a low probability of detection by an adversary, which we refer to as `warden'.

A Multi‐Resonant Tunable Fabry‐Pérot Cavity for High Throughput Spectral Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
This study introduces a multi‐resonant tunable Fabry‐Pérot filter for high throughput spectral imaging. With a spectral resolution of 10 nm and a switching time of 23 ms, this compact and low‐cost device possesses better spectral imaging accuracy in poor light conditions while maintaining over six times higher optical throughput than standard liquid ...

Development of High‐Performance Multilayer Monochromators

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Detailed insights into the optical and multilayer design of Double Multilayer Monochromators (DMM) are presented and fully characterized, including key optimization strategies and solutions to fabrication challenges. By integrating in‐house Ion Beam Figuring and a high uniformity multilayer coating process, the developed DMMs achieve high reflectivity,

Covert Multi-Access Communication with a Non-Covert User

open access: yesICC 2024 - IEEE International Conference on Communications
In this paper, we characterize the fundamental limits of a communication system with three users (i.e., three transmitters) and a single receiver where communication from two covert users must remain undetectable to an external warden. Our results show a tradeoff between the highest rates that are simultaneously achievable for the three users.

Distributed Bragg Reflector Based on Plasmonic Ag: Plasma Polymer Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a comprehensive approach for the optical design and validation of silver nanocomposite‐based Distributed Bragg Reflectors (DBRs). It describes deriving material properties (n, k) and using them to predict the performance of the deposited optical stack, as well as to characterize imperfections in the DBR deposition, or even to ...
