Dielectric‐Confinement‐Induced in‐Plane Photoelectric Anisotropy in Isotropic Quasi‐1D γ‐GaS Nanoribbon

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate the geometry‐governed optoelectronic anisotropy arising from dielectric confinement in quasi‐1D γ‐GaS nanoribbons with intrinsically isotropic atomic structures. Dielectric mismatch between the nanoribbon and its surroundings leads to a general polarization‐dependent photoresponse during near‐field scattering.

Hesperidin alleviates systemic inflammation and oxidative stress by remodeling adipose tissue lipid metabolism in periparturient dairy cows

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology
Background Periparturient dairy cows experience a pronounced negative energy balance that accelerates adipose tissue lipolysis and predisposes them to oxidative stress and inflammation.

Delaying the Inevitable? U.S. Screwworm Closures and Feeder Cattle Market Dynamics

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biosecurity trade restrictions are commonly framed as preventive measures, yet in many settings they function primarily as policies of delay: they impose immediate market costs while only postponing the arrival of biological risks. This paper evaluates that intertemporal tradeoff using the 2024–2025 US suspension of live cattle imports from ...

Bidirectional regulation of gut microbiota and young ruminant host: implications for intestinal development and mucosal immunity

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology
As global demand for milk and meat increases, young ruminants need rapid gut development and sufficient mucosal immunity immediately after birth.

Dietary Supplementation with Naringin Improves Systemic Metabolic Status and Alleviates Oxidative Stress in Transition Cows via Modulating Adipose Tissue Function: A Lipid Perspective

open access: yesAntioxidants
Dairy cows face metabolic challenges around the time of calving, leading to a negative energy balance and various postpartum health issues. Adipose tissue is crucial for cows during this period, as it regulates energy metabolism and supports immune ...

Effects of Anemoside B4 on Diarrhea Incidence, Serum Indices, and Fecal Microbial of Suckling Calves

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of Anemoside B4 on diarrhea incidence, serum indices, and fecal microbial of suckling calves. Sixty newborn Chinese Holstein calves with similar body weight (43.7 ± 3.9 kg) were randomly divided into four ...

Animal‐Based Brands Taking the Plant‐Based Opportunity: A Tasting Experiment Exploring Consumer Acceptance of Plant‐Based Brand Extensions

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how consumer taste and brand equity perceptions shape the acceptance of plant‐based milk products. Using a blind/informed tasting experiment, we evaluated consumers' willingness to buy (WTB) and taste perception of a plant‐based milk alternative produced by a traditional dairy brand, compared with competing plant‐based ...

A1 β-casein and A2 β-casein: effects on the gastrointestinal motility, digestion, and absorption

open access: yesJournal of Functional Foods
This study compared A1 and A2 β-casein using a constipated mouse model and ex vivo intestinal sac assays. A2 β-casein significantly improved constipation-related outcomes—enhancing body weight recovery, shortening the first black stool time, increasing ...

Exploring the Impact of Meat Alternative Labeling Regulations on the U.S. Meat Consumption Patterns

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global demand for conventional meat continues to rise, but it is also associated with substantial environmental and health challenges. In response, meat alternatives have gained popularity, sparking debates over meat alternative labeling regulations. This study investigates the effects of meat alternative labeling regulations in the United
