Prognostic factors in locally advanced oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a clinical and radiomic analysis of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy before surgery

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundThe treatment of locally advanced oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (LAESCC) without distant metastasis remains a subject of debate. Neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (NIC) combined with surgery is the preferred initial approach for managing ...

Survival Analysis in LGD Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper proposes an application of the survival time analysis methodology to estimations of the Loss Given Default (LGD) parameter. The main advantage of the survival analysis approach compared to classical regression methods is that it allows ...

Developing and Evaluating a Laboratory‐Based Frailty Index (FI‐Lab) for the Prediction of Long‐Term Health Outcomes in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We aimed to construct and evaluate the first laboratory‐based frailty index (FI‐Lab) for predicting adverse outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to compare its predictive ability to that of an existing clinical frailty index (FI).

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Remote‐Controllable Immune‐Priming Spot Formation Via Nanocomplexed Hydrogel‐Assisted Histotripsy: Immunoasis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel immunotherapeutic strategy combines injectable, adjuvant‐loaded hydrogels with externally controlled histotripsy to create immune‐priming sites within tumors. This approach generates millimeter‐sized immune‐activated lesions with flexible, patient‐tailored treatment scheduling, enabling precise immune activation through tumor ablation‐mediated ...

Pre‐Encoded IFN‐I Sensitivity Exacerbates Memory T Cell Senescence in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Type I interferon (IFN‐I) signaling promotes p21‐dependent cell cycle arrest in senescent tumor‐specific memory T cells, resulting in poor proliferative responses and solid tumor regression during cancer vaccination. Conversely, IFNα/β receptor blockade reinvigorates T cell proliferation to regress solid tumors and is more effective with increasing ...

Do Highly Educated Daughters of Immigrants Adapt to the Middle-class Division of Labour After Childbirth? Evidence from Second-generation Pakistani and Vietnamese in Norway

open access: yesNordic Journal of Migration Research
Concerns about whether highly educated daughters of non-Western immigrants will make use of their education after family formation or will instead follow a gender-based division of labour and childcare have been raised in Western Europe.

Interactions of Antibody Drug Conjugate Anti‐Tubulin and Topoisomerase I Inhibitor Payloads with Radiotherapy to Potentiate Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody drug conjugates deliver their cytotoxic anti‐tubulin or topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads to tumors through cancer cell receptor targeting. The released drug payloads induce cellular changes that interact with radiotherapy resulting in radiosensitization that improves cancer cell kill and stimulates anti‐tumor immune responses.
