Channel holding time in mobile cellular networks with generalized Coxian distributed cell dwell time

21st Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2010
In this paper, probability distributions of new and handoff call channel holding times in mobile cellular networks are derived under the assumption that cell dwell time has generalized Coxian distribution. It is shown that when cell dwell time has a generalized Coxian distribution, the resulting residual cell dwell time has generalized Coxian ...

PH-Invariant Polytopes and Coxian Representations of Phase Type Distributions

Stochastic Models, 2006
In this paper, we study the relationship between phase type (PH) distributions, PH-invariant polytopes, and Coxian representations of PH-distributions. Explicit links are established between vectors in PH-invariant polytopes, PH-representations, and probability measures.

Software Reliability Model with Coxian Distribution of Length of Intervals between Errors Detection and Fixing Moments

2011 IEEE 35th Annual Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops, 2011
The generalized software reliability model on the basis of non-stationary Markovian service system is proposed. Approximation by Coxian distribution allows investigating software reliability growth for any kinds of distribution (for example, Weibull, Gamma) of time between the moments of program errors detection and fixing.

Modeling the Length of Stay of Respiratory Patients in Emergency Department Using Coxian Phase-Type Distributions with Covariates

IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, 2017
Variability and unpredictability are typical features of emergency departments (EDs) where patients randomly arrive with diverse conditions. Patient length of stay (LOS) represents the consumption level of hospital resources, and it is positively skewed and heterogeneous.

A conditional approach for modelling patient readmissions to hospital using a mixture of Coxian phase‐type distributions incorporating Bayes' theorem

Statistics in Medicine, 2016
The number of elderly patients requiring hospitalisation in Europe is rising. With a greater proportion of elderly people in the population comes a greater demand for health services and, in particular, hospital care. Thus, with a growing number of elderly patients requiring hospitalisation competing with non‐elderly patients for a fixed (and in some ...

Recent Developments in fitting Coxian Phase-type Distributions in Healthcare

2009
In the past few decades, Coxian phase-type distributions have become increasingly more popular as a means of representing survival times in healthcare models. In particular, they are considered suitable for modelling the length of stay of patients in hospital and more recently for modelling the patient waiting times in Accident and Emergency ...

Modelling the Length of Stay of Geriatric Patients in Emilia Romagna Hospitals Using Coxian Phase-Type Distributions with Covariates

2014
The attention placed on healthcare systems has been constantly increasing in recent years. This is especially true for geriatric services: older people often have complex medical and social needs and the proportion of elderly in the population is currently rising.
