Mixing and CP violation in the beauty and charm sectors at LHCb

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
The LHCb detector is a dedicated heavy flavour experiment operating at the Large Hadron Collider designed to pursue an extensive study of CP violation in the beauty and charm sectors.

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back: Managing Uncertainties in Outcomes, Deliverables, and Means in Behavioral Intervention Development Projects

open access: yesJournal of Operations Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We take an extended perspective on project success that includes post‐project outcomes as well as at‐end and during‐project success. To manage projects accordingly, we conceptualize three corresponding orders of uncertainty (outcomes, deliverables, and means uncertainties).

Spontaneous CP violation in supersymmetric QCD

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We investigate a composite model of spontaneous CP violation based on a new supersymmetric QCD as a solution to the strong CP problem. The scalar components of the meson chiral superfields obtain complex vacuum expectation values to break CP symmetry ...

CP violation in charm

open access: yes, 2007
CP-violating asymmetries in charm provide a unique probe of physics beyond the Standard Model. I review several topics relevant to searches for CP-violation in charmed meson and baryon transitions.

Leptonic CP violation and leptogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2014
The phenomenology of 3-neutrino mixing, the current status of our knowledge about the 3-neutrino mixing parameters, including the absolute neutrino mass scale, and of the Dirac and Majorana CP violation in the lepton sector, are reviewed. The problems of CP violation in neutrino oscillations and of determining the nature — Dirac or Majorana — of ...

Reversal Asymmetry of Reciprocal Metasurface Enables Ultra‐Compact Varifocal Reflective Lens

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
The possibility of breaking the reversal symmetry of a lens without violating reciprocity is demonstrated. The freedom provided is utilized to realize an ultra‐compact reflective varifocal lens‐doublet based on a flat metasurface lens and a piezoelectric actuated micromirror.

Double-mixing CP violation in B decays

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We study a long-overlooked CP violation observable, termed double-mixing CP violation, which arises from the interference between two neutral meson oscillating paths involved in a decay chain.

Challenges posed by non-standard neutrino interactions in the determination of δCP at DUNE

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2018
One of the primary objectives of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is to discover the leptonic CP violation and to identify its source. In this context, we study the impact of non-standard neutrino interactions (NSIs) on observing the CP ...

CP violation at LHCb

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2013
Precision measurements of CP violating observables in the mixing and decay of B mesons provide excellent opportunities to search for possible contributions from New Physics beyond the Standard Model. In these proceedings, key measurements pursued by the LHCb collaboration at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are described.

The von Neumann Stability Analysis of the Fixed‐Stress Schemes in Poroelastodynamics

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate splitting schemes based on the fixed‐stress sequential approach for poroelastodynamic problems. To assess numerical stability, we perform the von Neumann stability analysis on several fixed‐stress schemes for poroelastodynamics, including staggered, stabilized, and iterative methods. Our analysis reveals that while the staggered
