Oxidation von Mn2(CO)10 unter pseudo‐Gasphasenbedingungen generiert den schwach koordinierten 16‐Valenzelektronenkomplex [Mn(CO)5]+ als Intermediat, der n‐Pentan binden kann, da dieses der am stärksten bindende Ligand im System ist. Drei Isomere dieses Komplexes wurden mit Tieftemperatur‐NMR‐Spektroskopie und Einkristall‐Röntgenbeugung untersucht.

Promoting Alkane Binding: Crystallization of a Cationic Manganese(I)‐Pentane σ‐Complex from Solution

Oxidation of Mn₂(CO)₁₀ under pseudo gas‐phase conditions generates the weakly coordinated 16 valence electron complex [Mn(CO)₅]⁺, which binds n‐pentane as the strongest ligand available in this system. Three isomers were characterized by low‐temperature NMR and X‐ray crystallography.
