Effects of temperature on the biology of the northern shrimp, Pandalus borealis, in the Gulf of Maine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Length-frequency data collected from inshore and offshore locations in the Gulf of Maine in 1966-1968 indicated that ovigerous female northern shrimp (Pandalus borealis) first appeared offshore in August and September and migrated inshore in the fall ...

Predicting unseen chub mackerel densities through spatiotemporal machine learning: Indications of potential hyperdepletion in catch-per-unit-effort due to fishing ground contraction

open access: yesEcological Informatics
In fisheries management, accurate estimates of fish stock abundances are crucial for sustainable harvesting practices. Traditional methods often rely on catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) data, assuming fishing effort is uniformly distributed across the stock ...

Some news approaches for standardizing tropical purse seiners CPUEs

open access: yes, 2014
Indices of CPUE are presented for skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) for the Indian Ocean over the period 1980-2013. The analysis was initiated under the framework of the E.U. research project CECOFAD, whose objectives are to enhance our understanding of fishing effort units and improve the accuracy of purse-seine CPUE estimates.

Factors influencing the emigration of juvenile Bonga from the Cross River estuary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Studies were conducted to identify and quantify the proximate factors responsible for the emigration of juvenile bonga Ethmalosa fimbriata (Bowdich, 1825) from the Cross River estuary.

Nominal longline CPUE from Gough and Nightingale lobster fisheries

open access: yes, 2008
This document reports the nominal longline CPUE values available for Gough and Nightingale Islands from the summary sheet records. Exponential trends are fitted to the more recent data, and estimates of the annual rate of increase are presented.

Some correlations between CPUE series of hake (Northern Stock)

open access: yes, 1984
This document describes results of computing correlations between different CPUE series of hake (Northern Stock). Results show that significant correlations between some series appeared when same lag was allowed between series. Lesconil artisans CPUE (fishing in division VIlla) in year t seems to be correlated to CPUE La Rochelle

A Study on the Impact of Environmental Factors on Chub Mackerel Scomber japonicus Fishing Grounds Based on a Linear Mixed Model

open access: yesFishes
Chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) is a commercially important fish species which are widely distributed in the North Pacific. Based on the fishery data from China’s high-sea light-purse seine fishing from 2014 to 2020 and the marine environment factors ...

Comparison of Harvested and Nonharvested Painted Turtle Populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Painted turtles (Chrysemys picta) are commercially harvested in large numbers in Minnesota for sale to biological supply companies and the pet trade. We investigated the possible effects of this harvest by comparing size, demography, and catch rates of ...

An evaluation of the effects of blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) behavior on the efficacy of crab pots as a tool for estimating population abundance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Crab traps have been used extensively in studies on the population dynamics of blue crabs to provide estimates of catch per unit of effort; however, these estimates have been determined without adequate consideration of escape rates.
