GLM-standardised rock lobster (Jasus tristani) vessel CPUE at Tristan
2022A GLM method is described which is used to standardise the vessel CPUE data at Tristan. The vessel CPUE provides a more optimistic indication of stock status than the powerboat CPUE for the 2017 seasons.

Improving comparisons between models for CPUE
Fisheries Research, 2009In a recent article published in this journal, Shono (2008) discuss an issue of great relevance in fisheries: how to model catch per unit effort (CPUE). CPUE data are non-negative and severely skewed right, suggesting gamma or log-Normal models. However, often no fish are caught, which produces exact zeros in the data and neither a gamma or log-Normal ...

2021
The MARAM document MARAM/Tristan/2016/MAY/08 provides the full details of the updated (and rescaled) Tristan GLM-standardised lobster CPUE analysis. From the results presented in this document, the most recent target level for Tristan has been calculated.Ovenstones receive electronic logbook updates of the powerboat fishing at Tristan on a daily basis,

Compatibility of the hake model with the longline CPUE data
2022CPUE data for the longline fishery for hake (which are not used in the model-fitting) are superimposed on the corresponding Reference case model-predicted values. Though agreement is reasonable in many instances, it is a concern that the most recent data are much lower than the model predicted values in a number of cases.

Demographics and Clinical Characteristics of Patients With CPUE
Journal of Clinical GastroenterologyGoals: This study examines the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients with CPUE (colonic polyposis of unknown etiology) to determine who may benefit from increased surveillance. Background: CPUE refers to individuals with 10 or more colonic adenomas with no ...

Statistical Models for Estimating CPUE from Catch and Effort Data
Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 1992Catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) provides one of the most commonly used abundance indices in fishery research. The literature, however, offers no unique method of estimating CPUE and its variance from catch and effort data. In this paper we develop two models (univariate and bivariate) that generalize previous approaches and remain valid under management ...

Horse Mackerel commercial CPUE and survey data series
This document describes the different fishing sectors for Horse Mackerel. It then summarises the commercial CPUE as well as the available survey data series. Maps are provided to show where fishing occurs and where survey data are from.Holloway, Susan +3 more

Evaluating the impact of spatio-temporal scale on CPUE standardization
Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology, 2013This study focused on the quantitative evaluation of the impact of the spatio-temporal scale used in data collection and grouping on the standardization of CPUE (catch per unit effort). We used the Chinese squid-jigging fishery in the northwestern Pacific Ocean as an example to evaluate 24 scenarios at different spatio-temporal scales, with a ...

Could the Tristan powerboat CPUE decline have been caused by overfishing?
2022From 2006 to 2014 the CPUE from the powerboats at Tristan has dropped by about 75%, suggesting that exploitable biomass fell by a similar proportion. The Tristan assessment (Johnston and Butterworth 2015) interprets this primarily as the downside of a decline as a result of the very strong 1997 year class passing through and then out of the fishery ...
