Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Measurement of Alpha Emitters Concentration in Tomato Fruits Using CR – 39 Plastic Track Detector

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2010
Our country suffered from pollution translation as a result to the wars events, so, it is necessary to measure the amount of radiation in the fields that are of indirect contact with human life and health.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Generalized detector as a spectrum sensor in cognitive radio networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The implementation of the generalized detector (GD) in cognitive radio (CR) systems allows us to improve the spectrum sensing performance in comparison with employment of the conventional detectors.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Measurement of radon and uranium concentration in soil samples from Babylon cement plant using nuclear track detector CR-39

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics, 2019
In this study, concentrations of radon and uranium were measured for twenty six samples of soil. The radon concentrations in soil samples measured by registrant alpha-emitting radon (222Rn) by using CR-39 track detector.

Multiband Spectrum Access: Great Promises for Future Cognitive Radio Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cognitive radio has been widely considered as one of the prominent solutions to tackle the spectrum scarcity. While the majority of existing research has focused on single-band cognitive radio, multiband cognitive radio represents great promises towards ...

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Natural Radioactivity and Radon Concentrations in Parenteral Nutrition Samples Utilized in Iraqi Hospitals [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Physics, 2019
Introduction: This study was conducted to measure the gamma emitters (e.g., uranium-238 [238U], thorium-232 [232Th], and potassium-40[40K]) and alpha emitters (e.g., radon-222 [222Rn] and radium), and also to evaluate the radiation hazard indices of ...
