Aerobic Cr(VI) Reduction by Bacteria in Culture and Soil Conditions

open access: yes, 2013
We compared the performance of aerobic Cr(VI)-reducing bacteria isolated from Cr(VI)-contaminated soil in pure and mixed cultures of five isolated strains. The mixed culture had increased reduction rates compared to individual cultures.

Direct Cr (VI) bio-reduction with organics as electron donor by anaerobic sludge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Industrial activities produce lots of Cr (VI)-containing wastewater. This study presented a detailed work on direct Cr (VI) bio-reduction (i.e. Cr (VI) is reduced with organics as electron donor directly) by anaerobic sludge through both batch and long ...

The role of soil components in synthetic mixtures during the adsorption and speciation changes of Cr(VI): Conjunction of the modeling approach with spectroscopic and isotopic investigations

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2019
This study investigates redox transitions associated with the adsorption of Cr(VI) on commonly occurring soil components (silicates, oxides and humic acids) and their synthetic mixtures by coupling the mechanistic surface complexation modeling with ...

Hexavalent chromium reduction under fermentative conditions with lactate stimulated native microbial communities. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Microbial reduction of toxic hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) in-situ is a plausible bioremediation strategy in electron-acceptor limited environments. However, higher [Cr(VI)] may impose stress on syntrophic communities and impact community structure and ...

In Situ Biostimulation of Cr(VI) Reduction in a Fast-Flowing Oxic Aquifer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Hexavalent chromium is among the most common and hazardous inorganic contaminants in soils and groundwater. A promising in situ bioremediation approach is the delivery of electron donors to stimulate microbially mediated Cr(VI) reduction, producing ...

Simultaneous Photocatalytic Reduction of Cr(VI) and Oxidation of Benzoic Acid in Aqueous N-F-Codoped TiO2 Suspensions: Optimization and Modeling Using the Response Surface Methodology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2012
The simultaneous photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) and oxidation of benzoic acid (BA) in aqueous suspensions using N-F-codoped TiO2 and simulated solar irradiation were investigated in the present study.

Influence of soil minerals on chromium(VI) reduction by sulfide under anoxic conditions

open access: yesGeochemical Transactions, 2007
The effects of soil minerals on chromate (CrVIO42-, noted as Cr(VI)) reduction by sulfide were investigated in the pH range of 7.67 to 9.07 under the anoxic condition. The examined minerals included montmorillonite (Swy-2), illite (IMt-2), kaolinite (KGa-

Reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) by Activated Carbon Cloth through Adsorption and Electrochemical Processes

open access: yes, 2023
Effective electrode materials are required to eliminate high concentrations of toxic Cr(VI) contaminants from industrial effluents. Kynol activated carbon cloth (CC) is a commercial, high-surface-area, and mechanically stable carbon material that can be ...

CHROMIUM(VI) REDUCTION BY A MIXED CULTURE OF SULFATE REDUCING BACTERIA DEVELOPED IN COLUMN REACTOR

open access: yesJurnal Manusia dan Lingkungan, 2008
A lactate enriched mixed sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) culture was examined for the reduction of Cr(VI) in a continuous flow system. The influent was mineral salts media added with lactate and sulfate with amounts of 8 and 6 mM respectively as electron
