Aplication of Frequency Map Analysis to Beam-Beam Effects Study in Crab Waist Collision Scheme

open access: yes, 2010
We applied Frequency Map Analysis (FMA) - a method that is widely used to explore dynamics of Hamiltonian systems - to beam-beam effects study. The method turned out to be rather informative and illustrative in the case of a novel Crab Waist collision ...

Measurement of Crabs [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1896
MR. CUNNINGHAM, in NATURE of October 29, raises a doubt as to the trustworthiness of the results of my measurements of crabs, on the ground that the specimens of the year 1893 had been longer in spirit than those of 1895.

Environmental and local habitat variables as predictors of trophic interactions in subtidal rocky reefs along the SE Pacific coast

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Temperature generally drives latitudinal patterns in the strength of trophic interactions, including consumption rates. However, local community and other environmental conditions might also affect consumption, disrupting latitudinal gradients, which results in complex large‐scale patterns.

A review of the biology and management of horseshoe crabs, with emphasis on Florida populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In Florida, some horseshoe crabs are fished for eel bait, but they are fished principally by the marine-life industry, which collects the animals live for resale as aquarium, research, or educational specimens.

Cheia de axé (full of axé): Spirituality, resistance, and repair in Pernambuco's Afro‐Brazilian traditional communities

open access: yesFeminist Anthropology, EarlyView.
Abstract This article explores how Afro‐Brazilian communities in Pernambuco respond to state‐led industrial development through culturally rooted practices of resistance and repair. Drawing on archival and ethnographic research in the coastal municipalities of Cabo de Santo Agostinho and Ipojuca, this study traces the effects of Brazil's large‐scale ...

Gamma-ray flare and absorption in Crab Nebula: Lovely TeV-PeV astrophysics

open access: yes, 2012
We spectrally fit the GeV gamma-ray flares recently-observed in the Crab Nebula by considering a small blob Lorentz-boosted towards us. We point out that the corresponding inverse-Compton flare at TeV--PeV region is more enhanced than synchrotron by a ...

Dungeness Crab Vs. Snow Crab: Comparison

open access: yes, 2023
This article presents a comprehensive comparison of Dungeness crabs and snow crabs, examining their distinctions in various aspects. Dungeness crabs are indigenous to the western coast of North America, while snow crabs have a broader distribution in regions such as Maine, Greenland, the Sea of Okhotsk, and the Sea of Japan.

Gamma radiation from the Crab nebula above 35 MeV [PDF]

open access: yes
Electromagnetic radiation from the Crab nebula were observed, showing that the Crab is unique among strong X-ray sources in that major component in the low energy range (1 to 10 KeV) shows little or no temporal variation.
