Male reproductive system in stenopodidean shrimps: Unveiling basal reproductive traits in shrimp‐like Pleocyemata (Stenopodidae and Spongicolidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Stenopodidea represents one of the basal lineages within Pleocyemata, yet the male reproductive system (MRS) of this group remains poorly understood, with limited information available regarding its morphology and function. This study provides the first detailed description of the MRS in four stenopodidean shrimp species from two families ...

Investigating the Heat Stability and Inactivation Conditions of Decapod Iridescent Virus 1 (DIV1)

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat treatment effectively inactivates decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1) under milder conditions than current WOAH recommendations. DIV1 infectivity was eliminated at 56°C for 30 min, 60°C for 15 min, or 70°C for 1 min, providing optimized heat treatment strategies for aquaculture biosecurity and seafood safety.

Scanning Parametric Sediment Echosounder as Tool for Underwater Archaeological Prospection

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Underwater cultural heritage 3D prospection techniques, especially for remains that are partly buried in the ground, are only very rarely available and often can only be applied with considerable technical effort. To overcome this limitation, we evaluate a methodological adaption of widely used and available single channel parametric sediment ...

Seasonality of larvae of Brachyura and Anomura (Crustacea Decapoda) in the Beagle Channel, Argentina

open access: yesScientia Marina, 1999
This is the first study in the Beagle Channel that reports the larval seasonal distribution, abundance and duration of the larval stages of Anomura and Brachyura, on the basis of a fortnightly sampling programme.

All‐Inside Arthroscopic Technique for Repairing Radial Meniscus Tears at the Anterior Horn–Body Junction

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Radial meniscus tears are a common tear pattern that, if left untreated, can ultimately lead to accelerated degenerative changes and disability. There is well‐established evidence that supports meniscal preservation in patients with radial meniscus tears.

Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair With Autologous Biologic Augmentation Using Biceps Tendon Redirection and Incorporation

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract The long head of the biceps tendon is a valuable autologous tissue for biologic augmentation in rotator cuff repair. Redirecting the long head of the biceps tendon can enhance its role as a humeral head depressor, limiting superior humeral head migration, and improving rotator cuff force couple and shoulder biomechanics. Incorporating the long

How wildlife respond to tropical cyclones: short‐term tactics and long‐term impacts

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT From butterflies to lizards and from sharks to seabirds, wildlife exhibit tactics to survive the impacts of tropical cyclones, also known as hurricanes, cyclones, or typhoons depending on where they occur. Some species seek refuge during the storm by moving, some remain in place and ride it out, and others move longer distances, avoiding the ...

Histological and histochemical analysis of the gonadal development of males and females of Armases rubripes (Rathbun 1897) (Crustacea, Brachyura, Sesarmidae)

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The objective of this study was to provide information on the histological characteristics of the gonads of male and female Armases rubripes crabs, and to try to establish a relationship between the microscopic and macroscopic stages previously ...
