Evaluation of the stress singularities of plane V-notches in bonded dissimilar materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
According to the linear theory of elasticity, there exists a combination of different orders of stress singularity at a V-notch tip of bonded dissimilar materials. The singularity reflects a strong stress concentration near the sharp V-notches.

Characterization of elastic-plastic-creep crack-tip stress fields under load and displacement control

open access: yesProcedia Structural Integrity, 2016
Abstract This paper characterizes the elastic-plastic-creep crack-tip stress fields under load and displacement control. The stress field has been calculated from finite element (FE) transient creep analysis under each load control condition and displacement control condition.

Wedge splitting test: Displacement field analysis by multi-parameter fracture mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Multi-parameter fracture mechanics is nowadays quite extensively applied when cracked structures/specimens are investigated. The reason was that it has been shown that it can be helpful and bring results that are more accurate when for describing of ...

An element-free Galerkin method for electromechanical coupled analysis in piezoelectric materials with cracks

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
We present an element-free Galerkin method for electromechanical coupled fracture analysis in piezoelectric materials. Singularity terms were introduced into the approximation function of the new method to describe the displacement and electric fields ...

Numerical simulation of the crack 2D by the finite element incorporated the discontinuity

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2008
Determining stress intensity factors is important in fracture mechanics. The extended finite element method (XFEM) provides a robust and accurate to determine factors.

Dynamics of Simple Cracks

open access: yes, 2009
Cracks are the major vehicle for material failure, and often exhibit rather complex dynamics. The laws that govern their motion have remained an object of constant study for nearly a century.

A numerical approach for modelling thin cracked plates with XFEM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The modelization of bending plates with through the thickness cracks is investigated. We consider the Kirchhoff-Love plate model which is valid for very thin plates.

Propagation of cohesive crack in unsaturated porous media by use of XFEM method

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
Various damage models have been presented to model the cracks. These models don’t simulate the discontinuity in displacement field; just see its effect on an upper level on stress field through damage parameter.
