Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Cracked rotor demonstration [PDF]

open access: yes
The purpose of this demonstration is to observe the behavior of a rotor with a single crack. This will be presented in oscilloscope orbits, 2X POLAR PLOTS, and spectrum cascade diagrams. Crack detection must be observed in all three formats and monitored

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Statistical Methods for Automatic Crack Detection Based on Vibrothermography Sequence-of-Images Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Vibrothermography is a relatively new nondestructive evaluation technique for finding cracks through frictional heat generated from crack surface vibrations under external excitations.

Cracking assessment in concrete structures by distributed optical fiber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, a method to obtain crack initiation, location and width in concrete structures subjected to bending and instrumented with an optical backscattered reflectometer (OBR) system is proposed.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Effective small crack detection based on tunnel crack characteristics and an anchor-free convolutional neural network

open access: yesScientific Reports
Tunnel cracks are thin and narrow linear targets, and their pixel proportions in images are usually very low, less than 6%; therefore, a method is needed to better detect small crack targets.

Automatic Pixel-Level Pavement Crack Detection Using Information of Multi-Scale Neighborhoods

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Robust automatic pavement crack detection is critical to automated road condition evaluation. However, research on crack detection is still limited and pixel-level automatic crack detection remains a challenging problem, due to heterogeneous pixel ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
