Effects and Sensitivity Analysis of Cracking Parameters on the Fatigue Crack Propagation

2015
For fracture mechanics, the crack propagation law is often modelled by the linear model usually known as Paris law. This law depends on two constants characteristic of the material. The existence of a correlation between the Paris-Erdogan model parameters was the focal point of several research studies since 1971.

On the Quantitative Analysis of Fatigue Crack Propagation

1983
The literature on the subject of the mechanism of fatigue crack growth is reviewed. Historically two different mechanisms have been proposed. One is based upon the concept of damage accumulation, the other on a plastic sliding-off process at the tip of the advancing crack.

Simplified Modeling and Detailed Crack Propagation Analysis for Cracked Pipes

Volume 8: Seismic Engineering, 2005
Two analysis approaches for a cracked pipe subjected to a seismic load were focused on. The first approach is a simplified modeling technique using a nonlinear spring element. A degrading model called a deteriorating distributed element was improved to simulate the asymmetric and degrading behavior of a cracked pipe.

The analysis of crack appearance and crack propagation in Elements of special Design

2000
Elements of special designs in process industry are exposed to a great number of negative influences during exploitation. All these negative factors lead to a shorter useful life of the design, with the most significant factor being the material selected and the process of its manufacturing and design, as well as exploitation conditions.
