Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

CRACK GROWTH SIMULATION BASED ON ABAQUS SECONDARY EVELOPMENT

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2018
Crack propagation is a typical discontinuous problem, which is difficult to be simulated with traditional finite element method. In order to solve the defects of traditional methods, extended finite element method introduced level set function method to ...

Simulation of three-dimensional fatigue crack propagation using enriched finite elements

open access: yes, 2011
A three-dimensional methodology for simulation of fatigue crack propagation is presented. The method is leveraged by the use of enriched crack tip elements to compute the mixed-mode stress intensity factors.

Experimental and theoretical studies of corrosion fatigue in a high strength steel. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The present work consists of both experimental and theoretical aspects of corrosion fatigue in a high strength steel. Fatigue tests were conducted under fully reversed shear loading in an aerated 0.6M NaC1 solution at pH6, for a silico-manganese ...

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.
