Relationship between notch tip strain and crack-opening displacement
Materials Science and Engineering, 1980Abstract A model is proposed for strain associated with smooth blunting of a notch under mode I type of loading. The model yields a relationship between notch tip strain and crack-opening displacement. The predictions of the model were found to be in good agreement with Robinsons and Tetelman's experimental data on A533-B steel.

Metal Science, 1976AbstractThe recrystallization method, a newly developed technique for measuring plastic strain, makes it possible to observe directly the intense strain region near the crack tip. The shape of this zone and the plastic strain distribution obtained by this method are similar to the theoretical findings of Rice and Johnson.

On the influence of specimen geometry on the critical crack-tip-opening displacement
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1989Abstract Critical values of the crack-tip-opening displacement, CODi, are determined on CTI-specimens having different thicknesses and ligament lengths. CODi is determined using the method of stereophotogrammetry with the scanning-electron microscope. The influence of specimen geometry on CODi is studied.
