Numerical Simulation of the Influence of Width of a Prefabricated Crack on the Dimensionless Stress Intensity Factor of Notched Semi-Circular Bend Specimens

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
To analyze the effect of the width of a prefabricated crack on the dimensionless stress intensity factor of notched semi-circular bend (NSCB) specimens, ABAQUS software was employed to perform numerical calibration of the crack tip stress intensity ...

Study of three-dimensional crack fronts under plane stress using a phase field model

open access: yes, 2010
The shape of a crack front propagating through a thin sample is studied using a phase field model. The model is shown to have a well defined sharp interface limit.

Mechanical Performance and Chloride Diffusivity of Cracked RC Specimens Exposed to Freeze-Thaw Cycles and Intermittent Immersion in Seawater

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2016
The effects of crack width on chloride ingress and mechanical behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) specimens were experimentally studied after exposure to 300 cycles of freeze-thaw and seawater immersion (75 times).

Size scaling of strength in thin film delamination

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate by numerical simulation the system size dependence of the shear delamination strength of thin elastic films. The films are connected to a rigid substrate by a disordered interface containing a pre-existing crack. The size dependence of the

Machine learning-based prediction of crack width and bond-dependent coefficient (kb) in GFRP-reinforced concrete beams

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP)-reinforced concrete (RC) flexural elements are typically designed to fulfill the serviceability criteria, including deflection and crack width.

Revisiting Cracking in Reinforced Concrete Beams: An Updated Analysis

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
As materials and structural optimization continue to be important in design, structural safety checks for service limit states have become increasingly important.

TINJAUAN LEBAR RETAK PADA BALOK BETON BERTULANG DENGAN VARIASI TEBAL SELIMUT BETON HORISONT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The collapse occurred beam begins with the onset of cracking. The emergence of such cracks are very smooth and parallel to the axial beam propagating from the bottom up and quit after the ultimate.

Characterisation of bending cracks in R/FRC using image analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this study, experiments were conducted to induce bending cracks of specific surface crack width to reinforced concrete beams made of plain concrete (RC) and reinforced concrete beams made of fibre reinforced concrete (R/FRC).

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Simulation of Chloride Diffusion in Cracked Concrete with Different Crack Patterns

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2016
Chloride-induced corrosion of steel rebar is one of the primary durability problems for reinforced concrete structures in marine environment. Furthermore, if the surfaces of concrete structures have cracks, additional chloride can penetrate into concrete
