Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights From a Large International Sicca Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0–4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0–3) as predictors of DED signs (abnormal ocular ...

Evaluation of early-age shrinkage cracking behavior of partially continuous reinforced concrete pavement using restrained ring test

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) has deficiencies such as high initial construction cost and irregular crack distribution. To address the shortcomings of CRCP, a rigid pavement structure called partially continuous reinforced concrete ...

A Return to Normality: A Descriptive Qualitative Interview Study Exploring the Patient Experience of Gout Flare Resolution

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...

The Gut–Heart Axis in Systemic Sclerosis: Evidence From a Large Prospective Early Disease Cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cardiac involvement significantly impacts prognosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc), highlighting the need for early risk stratification. Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are common and often manifest early. Emerging data suggest a link between GI and cardiac manifestations, possibly through shared mechanisms like dysautonomia.

Real‐World Safety and Effectiveness of JAK Inhibitors in Systemic Sclerosis: A Propensity‐Matched Study From the EUSTAR Cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective JAK inhibitors (JAKi) have shown promising effects in early‐phase studies of systemic sclerosis (SSc). We aimed to assess the safety and explore the effectiveness of JAKi compared to conventional immunosuppressants in SSc. Methods A longitudinal retrospective study of the European Scleroderma Trials and Research Group (EUSTAR) cohort was ...

Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior of Large Crack in Silicon Nitride

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Society of Japan, 1993
Fatigue crack propagation under cyclic loading was observed in CT specimens of silicon nitride by employing an electrical resistance technique with crack gage made of platinum film. The crack growth rate was not uniform even if the fatigue condition was constant.
