Factorization of polynomials over the symmetrized tropical semiring and Descartes' rule of sign over ordered valued fields

open access: yes
The symmetrized tropical semiring is an extension of the tropical semifield, initially introduced to solve tropical linear systems using Cramer's rule. It is equivalent to the real tropical hyperfield, which has been used in the study of tropicalizations

Common cause versus dynamic mutualism: Insights into ADHD's common comorbidities

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Contemporary classification systems differ in their conceptualization of ADHD as either an externalizing or neurodevelopmental condition, with both perspectives promoting the common cause model as an explanation of ADHD's comorbidity.

Perceived Suitability for Being a Dental Hygienist and Self‐Compassion: A 6‐Month Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Perceived professional suitability—students' judgment of whether they are well‐suited to their profession—may shift within a semester, yet longitudinal evidence in dental hygiene education is limited. We examined 6‐month changes in perceived suitability and their psychological associations.

Food insecurity and hospital resource utilization

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Food insecurity (FI) is an important pediatric social risk factor associated with worse health outcomes. However, there is a paucity of data on FI's effects on hospitalized children and hospital‐based reutilization. Methods This single‐center, retrospective cohort study included children admitted between 2020 and 2023 to evaluate ...

Renal screening sonography—A comparative study in a Portuguese basic emergency service

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, Volume 72, Issue 1, Page 8-16, March 2025.
Renal sonography screening aids in clinical decision‐making for patients with suspected renal colic. This study intends to compare the accuracy and pertinence of sonographic findings obtained by a sonographer in a Basic Emergency Service (BES) with that of radiologists at Referral Hospital (RH) in Portugal. Renal sonography screening was able to detect

Cramer's Rule in Hyperbolic Number Plane

open access: yesHighlights in Science, Engineering and Technology
This paper investigates the existence theorem for solutions to hyperbolic linear systems and presents the judgment conditions for the existence of such solutions. It extends the judgment conditions applicable to general linear systems, expanding the research scope from real matrices, a focus in advanced algebra, to hyperbolic matrices.

Columnanidus calitzdorpensis ichnogen. ichnosp. nov: A new Middle Pleistocene subterranean termite trace fossil from South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Termites are landscape geo‐engineers whose nesting activities substantially modify the physical and chemical properties of soils. Fossilised termite nests commonly constitute the only identifiable evidence of ancient termite activity and represent valuable trace fossil archives for reconstructing past environments.

DNA barcoding for identification of species involved in wildlife strikes at Brazilian airports

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
A collaborative network of 42 Brazilian airports applied DNA barcoding to identify 80 species involved in wildlife strikes. Among them, 32 species (17 birds and 15 bats) were not currently available in Brazil's wildlife strike reporting database, underscoring the value of molecular tools for strengthening wildlife strike monitoring. Abstract This study
