Trochlear Nerve Schwannoma: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesBrazilian Neurosurgery, 2017
Schwannomas arise from the Schwann cells of the peripheral and cranial nerves. They represent 8% of the primary cerebral neoplasms. Although schwannomas usually develop in sensory nerves, most often on the vestibular and trigeminal nerves, in very rare ...

Trade‐off of different deep learning‐based auto‐segmentation approaches for treatment planning of pediatric craniospinal irradiation autocontouring of OARs for pediatric CSI

open access: yesMedical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background As auto‐segmentation tools become integral to radiotherapy, more commercial products emerge. However, they may not always suit our needs. One notable example is the use of adult‐trained commercial software for the contouring of organs at risk (OARs) of pediatric patients.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases, 2006

Proximal Nerve Complexes. A Computational Topology Approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
This article introduces a theory of proximal nerve complexes and nerve spokes, restricted to the triangulation of finite regions in the Euclidean plane. A nerve complex is a collection of filled triangles with a common vertex, covering a finite region of the plane. Structures called $k$-spokes, $k\geq 1$, are a natural extension of nerve complexes.

Long term management of intracranial epidermoids balancing extent of resection and functional preservation in a 20 year institutional experience. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep
Epidermoid lesions account for 1% of intracranial neoplasms. Surgical management is challenging due to their adhesion to critical neurovascular structures and tendency for recurrence. The current study examines surgical outcomes, extent of resection, and

Surgical Outcomes Comparison of Spontaneous Middle Cranial Fossa Cerebrospinal Fluid Leaks: Systematic Review and Meta‐analysis

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid (sCSF) leaks of lateral skull base have little consensus on optimal management. We synthesized and evaluated current literature via systematic and meta‐analysis to compare the success rates and complications of the different surgical techniques for middle cranial fossa (MCF) sCSF leak repair.

open access: yes, 2018
including cranial nerves, peripheral nerves, roots, and plexus by non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and nontumorous lymphocytes. NL can occur as a primary presentation of isolated nerve involvement by lymphoma cells, which is called primary NL, but it is more often

Primary extracranial meningioma of the mandible [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Meningiomas are benign tumors of mesodermal origin that arise from arachnoid cell clusters that penetrate the dura to form arachnoid villi. These neoplasms represent one of the most common neoplasms developing within the central nervous system and are ...

Unilateral abducens nerve palsy: A presenting sign of sphenoid sinus mucocoeles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Sphenoid sinus mucocoeles can stimulate a variety of pathological conditions and patients can present to a range of specialists. Because of the relative rarity of sphenoid sinus mucocoeles, diagnosis is often delayed and these lesions can progressively ...
