Efficient Polarization‐Entangled Photon‐Pair Generation by a Fiber‐In‐Line van der Waals Material

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 57, 14 October 2026.
Telecom‐wavelength polarization‐entangled photon pairs are generated in a van der Waals‐material‐integrated all‐fiber device via spontaneous parametric down‐conversion. The demonstrated fiberized quantum light source bridges emerging 2D nonlinear materials and practical quantum photonic systems, opening new opportunities for scalable fiber‐based ...

Vertically Weft‐Knitted Smart Kinesiotapes for High‐Sensitivity, Low‐Drift Textile Strain Sensing in Close‐to‐Body Motion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 20, 26 October 2026.
Textile architecture is shown to govern the electromechanical response of embroidered and weft‐knitted strain sensors. Sensor geometry, sensing‐path length, and yarn orientation strongly affect resistance and sensing behavior. Vertical weft‐knitted structures provide the most distinct cyclic response and high sensitivity, highlighting their potential ...

Reconfigurable Design and Optimization‐Based Control of an Integrated Leg‐Arm Robot for Space Applications With an Underactuated Body

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
A quadrupedal integrated leg‐arm robot with an underactuated reconfigurable body is developed. By using a Sarrus mechanism as the body, the robot enables reconfiguration through its supporting limbs, achieving mode switching without additional actuators.

Polarization‐Dependence of Nonlinear Optical Effects in Silicon: The Case of Ultrafast Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 5, Issue 10, October 2026.
The dependence of the input polarization for the nonlinear optical propagation in silicon is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The perturbative regime is examined using pump‐probe shadowgraphy and nonlinear transmission, whereas the case of permanent laser‐induced modifications is addressed using a combination of Raman micro‐spectroscopy ...

Malady in motion: Effects of chronic wasting disease on host movement

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 36, Issue 7, October 2026.
Abstract Pathogens can have significant impacts on host movement and behavior with consequences for ongoing transmission. For example, chronic wasting disease (CWD) causes severe nutritional deficiencies and neurologic changes, which may alter white‐tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) movement and subsequent transmission risk.
