Multi‐talented Bismuthinidenes: Double C(sp3)‐I Bond Activation Using Single or Two Bi Centers.

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
The reaction of [2,6‐(DippN=CH)2C6H3]Bi (1Dipp, Dipp = 2,6‐iPrC6H3) with CH2I2 proceeded via double C‐I bond activation yielding [2,6‐(DippN=CH)2C6H3]Bi(μ‐(Bi,N)‐CH2)I2 (3). By contrast, the reaction of 1Dipp with 1,2‐diiodoethane provided [2,6‐(DippN=CH)2C6H3]BiI2 (1DippI2) and ethene. The tert‐butyl analogue [2,6‐(tBuN=CH)2C6H3]Bi (1tBu) reacted with

Making and Breaking Supramolecular Synthons for Modular Protein Frameworks

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Calixarenes are useful tools for protein crystal engineering. With the model protein RSL, different calixarene dimers generate distinct frameworks. An N‐terminal macrocycle binding tag serves to expand the structural landscape. Abstract Anionic calixarenes are useful mediators of protein assembly.

Computational Exploration of Stereoelectronic Relationships in Manganese‐Catalysed Hydrogenation Reactions

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Stereoelectronic effects governing Mn‐catalysed hydrogenation reactions have been deconvoluted through the analysis of a series of in silico catalyst modifications using DFT (PBE0‐D3PCM(EtOH)/def2‐TZVP//RI‐BP86PCM(EtOH)/def2‐SVP level of theory). Computations were performed on the Mn‐catalysed reduction of indanone based on a catalyst from the Clarke ...

Cis‐Chelating Diphosphanes for Intra‐Cavity Nickel(II)‐Catalyzed Ethylene Oligomerization

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Four cis‐chelating diphosphanes derived from cyclodextrins (CDs), each with various intra‐cavity environments, compel NiII or PdII metal centers to reside within α‐ or β‐CD cavities. Nickel(II) complexes of these metal‐confining ligands act as active catalysts in ethylene oligomerization upon activation with modified methyaluminoxane (MMAO).
