Building a Continental‐Scale Geodetic Network: The Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO)
Abstract The Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO) transformed the use of geodesy in North America to study crustal deformation and plate boundary processes by establishing a continental‐scale, standardized, open‐access geodetic network. Built and operated by UNAVCO between 2003 and 2018 as part of the National Science Foundation (NSF)‐funded EarthScope ...

Enhancing IR‐MALDESI MSI Spatial Resolution Through Beam Constriction With a Ring‐Actuated Iris
ABSTRACT Rationale Infrared matrix‐assisted laser desorption electrospray ionization (IR‐MALDESI) mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) enables label‐free, spatially resolved molecular analysis of biological tissues under ambient conditions. While improving spatial resolution is important for mapping fine tissue structures, mid‐infrared (IR) lasers are ...

Super‐Resolution of Planetary Images Based on Generative Adversarial Network
Abstract Currently, satellite imagery serves as the primary means of observing terrestrial planets such as the Mars, the Moon, and Mercury. Enhancing the resolution and quality of these images can provide more detailed insights into planetary surfaces. However, improvements in image quality are often limited by the constraints of sensor technology and ...

Automated Mineral Identification and Rock‐Type Classification of Lunar Mare Basalts Using SEM Images
Abstract We present an automated system for identifying minerals and classifying rock types in Apollo lunar mare basalts using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imagery. Mineral segmentation is based on a U‐Net architecture, supplemented by two scale‐aware models designed to incorporate pixel size information.
