Craw4LLM: Efficient Web Crawling for LLM Pretraining [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Web crawl is a main source of large language models' (LLMs) pretraining data, but the majority of crawled web pages are discarded in pretraining due to low data quality. This paper presents Craw4LLM, an efficient web crawling method that explores the web graph based on the preference of LLM pretraining.

A Convoy of Magnetic Millirobots Transports Endoscopic Instruments for Minimally‐Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The first electrocautery procedure performed by a team of millirobots (TrainBots) is presented. Enhanced with optimized feet, millirobots form a convoy to facilitate the collaborative transportation of wires and catheters through biological lumens, e.g. bile ducts. It opens up the possibility of using a team of mini‐robots in future endoscopic surgery.

Can Common Crawl reliably track persistent identifier (PID) use over time? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We report here on the results of two studies using two and four monthly web crawls respectively from the Common Crawl (CC) initiative between 2014 and 2017, whose initial goal was to provide empirical evidence for the changing patterns of use of so-called persistent identifiers.

Activation of Glutamatergic Neurons in the Supramammillary Nucleus Promotes the Recovery of Consciousness under Sevoflurane Anesthesia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective lesioning of SuM glutamatergic neurons promoted the induction of and delayed emergence from sevoflurane anesthesia and increased sevoflurane sensitivity. Optogenetic stimulation of SuM glutamatergic neurons or the SuM‐MS projection promoted behavioral arousal and cortical activation under steady‐state sevoflurane anesthesia and reduced the ...

Two SOX11 variants cause Coffin–Siris syndrome with a new feature of sensorineural hearing loss

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 191, Issue 1, Page 183-189, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Coffin‐Siris syndrome (CSS, OMIM#135900) is a rare congenital disorder associated with neurodevelopmental and dysmorphic features. The primary cause of CSS is pathogenic variants in any of 9 BAF chromatin‐remodeling complex encoding genes or the genes SOX11 and PHF6. Herein, we performed whole‐exome sequencing (WES) and a series of analyses of

An Earthworm-Inspired Soft Crawling Robot Controlled by Friction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We present the modeling, design, fabrication and feedback control of an earthworm-inspired soft robot capable of crawling on surfaces by actively manipulating the frictional force between its body and the surface. Earthworms are segmented worms composed of repeating units known as metameres.
