Crawling the Web with OntoDir

2007
Managing large amount of information on the internet needs more efficient and effective methods and techniques for mining and representing information. The use of ontologies for knowledge representation has had a fast increase in the last years: in fact the use of a common and formal representation of knowledge allows a more accurate analysis of a ...

Crawling of worms

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1983
Abstract The mechanics of a worm crawling along a flat surface is analyzed. The external forces of friction and gravity, and the internal pressure and tension, are taken into account. An equation of motion is formulated, and solutions are sought in which both the tension and the linear density are required to lie between prescribed bounds.

‘Look at that kid crawling’: Race, myth and the ‘crawl’ stroke

Australian Historical Studies, 2006
Australia and, more specifically, a Solomon Island schoolboy named Alick Wickham, are credited with creating the swimming racing stroke, the crawl, or freestyle as it is known in contemporary parlance. Wickham's contribution constitutes a popular, celebrated and enduring legend. While there is some factual basis to the legend, Wickham's contribution is

On the crawling of cells

Development, 1984
ABSTRACT Motile cells moving in vitro do so via a characteristic motile appendage, the lamellipod, a broad, flat region of the cell cytoplasm which extends ahead of the moving cell, and which is devoid of organelles. I describe here a mechanochemical model for how the lamellipod propels the cell forward.

Adaptive Focused Crawling

2007
The large amount of available information on the Web makes it hard for users to locate resources about particular topics of interest. Traditional search tools, e.g., search engines, do not always successfully cope with this problem, that is, helping users to seek the right information.

The Crawling Rail

Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 1973
The beam on elastic foundation is employed as a mathematical model to develop an explanation for the crawling phenomena observed for the rails used to support the rotating beds of large rotary kilns.

Web Crawling

Foundations and Trends® in Information Retrieval, 2010
This is a survey of the science and practice of web crawling. While at first glance web crawling may appear to be merely an application of breadth-first-search, the truth is that there are many challenges ranging from systems concerns such as managing very large data structures to theoretical questions such as how often to revisit evolving content ...
