Urban developmental environments alter tadpole phenotypes depending on origin

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 94, Issue 9, Page 1707-1719, September 2025.
Urbanisation has rapidly altered the ecological and evolutionary contexts for many species. Using a reciprocal transplant experiment with frog larvae, we find that urban environments can alter morphological, developmental and behavioural traits at both ecological and evolutionary scales.

Large‐scale atmospheric variability entails differential modes of seasonal tree growth in the Mediterranean Basin

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 9, Page 2652-2667, September 2025.
This work demonstrates the control of teleconnections on seasonal tree growth through local climate across the Mediterranean basin. Despite the constant link between the East Atlantic Pattern and temperature, synergies among teleconnections point to an east–west dipole in tree seasonal growth, driven by precipitation variability.

Causas del desarrollo y mecánica del crecimiento [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 127, Issue 3, Page 447-465, September 2025.
ABSTRACT As anthropology reckons with its past, present, and future, anthropologists increasingly seek to challenge inequities within the discipline and academia more broadly. Anthropology, regardless of subdiscipline, is a social endeavor. Yet research often remains an isolating (though not necessarily solitary) process, even within research teams and

ARABIDOPSIS HOMOLOG OF TRITHORAX1 impacts lateral root development by epigenetic regulation of targets involved in root system architecture

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 5, Page 2180-2195, September 2025.
Summary Developmental processes are regulated at multiple levels, including the epigenetic level. Among the epigenetic factors, histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methyltransferases contribute to active transcription of target genes, and here, we explored how the H3K4 methyltransferase ARABIDOPSIS HOMOLOG OF TRITHORAX1 (ATX1) affects Arabidopsis thaliana ...

Modulatory L-Alliin Effect on Acute Inflammatory Cytokines in Diet-Induced Obesity Mice

open access: yesMetabolites
Background/Objectives: The inflammatory response has evolved as a protective mechanism against pathogens and tissue damage. However, chronic inflammation can occur, potentially leading to severe disease.

Cord blood levels of insulin‐like growth factor‐1 and insulin‐like growth factor binding protein‐3 correlate with perinatal brain development in fetal congenital heart disease

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 66, Issue 2, Page 200-209, August 2025.
Abstract Objectives Neonates with critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) are at risk for adverse early brain development and long‐term neurodevelopmental sequelae. Insulin‐like growth factor‐1 (IGF‐1) and insulin‐like growth factor binding protein‐3 (IGFBP‐3) are essential contributors to brain growth and maturation.

The Wildity Scale as a management tool for reintroduced specimens

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 3, July–September 2025.
Mexican wolves and other species are dispersing in the wild under human‐controlled ecological conditions. The concept and scale of wildity were developed as management tools for reintroduced specimens and context‐specific scenarios. Technological advances and the challenges of the Anthropocene require new communication strategies to support coexistence.
