Ionic Liquid‐Enhanced Solvent‐Based Fractional Crystallization for Separation of Fatty Acids From Tallow fat—A Modelling Approach

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In industrial practice, fats and oils that contain triglycerides when subjected to high‐temperature and high‐pressure aqueous hydrolysis, yield sweet water as the bottom product and fatty acid mixtures as the top product in a separating column.

Credit spread modeling effects on counterparty risk valuation adjustments: a spanish case study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We analyze the effects of the financial crisis in credit valuation adjustments (CVA's). Following the arbitrage-free valuation framework presented in Brigo et al. (2009), we consider a model with stochastic Gaussian interest rates and CIR++ default intensities.

Thermo‐Electro‐Mechanical Characterization of Thermoset and Thermoplastic Blends for Composite Polymer Electrolytes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the thermo‐electro‐mechanical properties of thermoplastic/epoxy blends as polymer hosts for composite polymer electrolytes. Blending PEO, PVA, and PVAc with heat‐resistant epoxy via suitable solvents yields films with high ionic conductivity and improved thermo‐mechanical stability, making them promising candidates for use in ...

Nitrogen‐Rich, Tröger's Base‐Linked Porous Organic Polymers (POPs) as Heterogeneous Catalysts and Adsorbents of Organic Pollutants From Water

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Synthesized Tröger's based POPs showed great versatility in heterogeneous catalysis reactions and for pollutant adsorption. ABSTRACT Porous organic polymers are a new class of polymeric materials that combine permanent porosity, high surface area, monomer diversity, and synthetic tunability, making them highly promising candidates for application in ...

Review of the anatomical basis for predicting plutonium alpha particle radiation induced osteogenic cancers

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Plutonium was discovered and first synthesized in the early 1940's. Several isotopes of plutonium are used in nuclear technologies, 238Pu for heat generation and 239Pu for energy production and weapons. Both isotopes emit alpha particles, which pose a significant radiation hazard when incorporated into the body.
