Supramolecular Engineering of Fluid Pressure in Filamentous Hybrid Double Network Hydrogels for 3D Chondrocyte Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the water‐rich and interconnected biopolymer networks of native load‐bearing tissues, we disclose a connectable design for a hybrid filamentous supramolecular and covalent double network hydrogel generated through in situ photopolymerization.

Piezoelectric Surface Charge and Dynamic Stimulation Synergize to Promote Cardiac Myoblast Alignment and Maturation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface polarization of PVDF films combined with mechanical stimulation generates piezoelectric electrical cues that modulate cardiomyoblast behaviour. Non‐poled and poled PVDF substrates provide distinct electroactive microenvironments influencing cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation.

Creep-Fatigue Life Evaluation for Grade 91 Steels with Various Origins and Service Histories

open access: yesMetals
Grade 91 steel is widely used in the boilers and piping of thermal power plants. There has been significant research interest in understanding the variations in creep characteristics among different heats of this steel for effective plant management.

Procedures for characterizing an alloy and predicting cyclic life with the total strain version of Strainrange Partitioning [PDF]

open access: yes
Procedures are presented for characterizing an alloy and predicting cyclic life for isothermal and thermomechanical fatigue conditions by using the total strain version of strainrange partitioning (TS-SRP). Numerical examples are given.

A New 3D Colon on a Chip to Decipher the Influence of Mechanical Forces on the Physiological Cellular Ecosystem

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...

Application of strainrange partitioning to the prediction of MPC creep-fatigue data for 2 1/4 Cr-1Mo steel [PDF]

open access: yes
Strainrange partitioning is used to predict the long time cyclic lives of the metal properties council (MPC) creep-fatigue interspersion and cyclic creep-rupture tests conducted with annealed 2 1/4 Cr-1Mo steel.

Environmental degradation of 316 stainless steel in high temperature low cycle fatigue [PDF]

open access: yes
Procedures based on modification of the conventional Strainrange Partitioning method are proposed to characterize the time-dependent degradation of engineering alloys in high-temperature, low-cycle fatigue. Creep-fatigue experiments were conducted in air
