A constant stress creep testing machine

Journal of Biomechanics, 1983
Abstract A device is described which permits loading of highly extensible materials at constant stress while monitoring extension as a function of time. As presented, the device accommodates extensions of up to four times resting length, loads from 0.1 to 10 N, and specimen lengths from 1 to 5 cm.

Accelerated Creep Testing of New Creep-Resisting Weld Metals

Welding in the World, 2010
New creep-resisting weld metals of P91 grade were manufactured by manual metal arc (MMA) process producing multi-bead multi-layer test coupons, from which specimens were taken for accelerated creep testing on Gleeble physical simulator. The recently developed accelerated creep testing (ACT) procedure on Gleeble allows transforming in a relatively short

Applications of Creep Tests

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1933
Abstract Analytical solutions of problems which involve creep phenomena and which are of practical interest are at present very limited in number. This paper discusses four specific problems for which solutions have been presented: namely, the problem of the flanged and bolted pipe joint under creep conditions, and the three problems of ...

Report on Tubular Creep Tests

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1942
Abstract This report comprises the results obtained on tubular specimens tested under internal pressure as measured for circumferential and longitudinal creep. In addition, tensile-test specimens of the same material were run as a comparison. This work follows closely an investigation’ reported upon previously.

Testing Methods for Creep

2017
The major techniques for collecting creep data are as follows: (a) tensile creep testing; (b) compressive creep testing; (c) flexural (bend) testing for creep; and (d) impression (hardness) creep testing.

New Machines for Creep and Creep-Rupture Tests

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1945
Abstract This paper describes two new creep-rupture machines. One combines eight conventional lever-arm creep machines into a single unit but with individual furnaces, controls, and recording equipment. The elongation of each test specimen is indicated by a revolution counter and can be read directly.

Analysis of Creep Tests On Springs

1990
An analysis is given of the deflections of close-coiled helical springs under creep conditions, a suitable assumption allowing a very simple solution to be found without a detailed examination of the redistribution of stresses with time. The solution is intended to be of use in the analysis of data from springs used as creep specimens, and requires ...

Creep and Rupture Test Pyrometry

1956
The importance of accurate temperature measurements and precise temperature control in creep and rupture testing is generally recognized. Both are urgently stressed in the pertinent ASTM recommended practices which emphasize that the recommended temperature limits are not intended to relieve the testing laboratory of the need to make every effort to ...
