Demographic buffering in natural populations: A multi‐level perspective
We introduce a multi‐level framework that unites stochastic elasticities with nonlinear selection to test demographic buffering. Applying it across mammals reveals a key insight: ecological robustness to variability often decouples from evolutionary constraint, reshaping how we understand resilience under environmental stochasticity.

Integração, Crescimento E Bem-Estar [PDF]
We present a model of growth for the case of two economies with integrated markets and where transportation costs in the form of iceberg costs are imposed. These costs will have negative impact on growth rates after integration, but will play a key role, together with scale factors, on the location of the firms of the intermediate sector.

The City as an Anti‐Growth Machine
ABSTRACT Logan and Molotch's “urban growth machine” remains foundational in urban theory, describing how coalitions of landowners, developers, and politicians promote urban growth to raise land values. This paper argues that under financialized capitalism, the dynamics have inverted: asset appreciation now outweighs productive investment, and urban ...

Anti‐Predation and Size‐Dependent Gas Exchange Functions of Amazonian Architect Cicada Towers
Clay towers built by cicada nymphs before metamorphosis are poorly understood. We experimentally show that towers of the Amazonian cicada Guyalna chlorogena reduce predation risk and exhibit size‐dependent growth responses to gas exchange obstruction, supporting their interpretation as adaptive extended phenotypes.

Social media highlights the overlooked impact of cats on arthropods
The impact of domestic cats on vertebrate biodiversity is unequivocal; however, we still know little about their effects on arthropods. By analysing over 17,000 photos and videos from social media platforms (iStock and TikTok), we documented 550 predation events of cats on arthropods.
