The Use of Population Isolates to Identify Metabolic Syndrome's Genetic Aetiology
While exogenous factors that lead to metabolic syndrome are well understood, each person's response to these is modulated by their genetics. Population isolates have the potential for higher‐powered studies of rare variants, and distinct linkage disequilibrium patterns can help map causal variants in loci identified in larger GWAS studies.
