Cricetinae in the Quaternary fossil record of the Czech Republic and Slovakia (Rodentia: Cricetidae) [PDF]

open access: diamondLynx new series, 2023
The paper surveys the Quaternary (MN17–Q4) fossil record of Cricetinae in the Czech Republic and Slovakia with particular attention to the current glacial cycle (Q4: Vistulian–Holocene) and immediate history of extant taxa. Vast majority of records were reexamined using standardized techniques of morphometric analysis (in total 625 molars of Cricetus ...

True Hamsters (Cricetinae) of the Palaearctic Region

open access: gold
True hamsters are a small subfamily (Cricetinae) containing only 19 species which are endemic to the Palaearctic region. Despite such low species richness, general public is well familiar with hamsters, primarily knowing them as pets, experimental laboratory animals and species of conservation concern.

This species is parasitic on the volcano mouse, Neotomodon alstoni Merriam, a member of the subfamily CRICETINAE to which belong all other hosts of the known species of Eubrachylaelaps. Development of a single-nucleotide polymorphism panel genotyping system for genetic analysis of Chinese hamsters. [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Model Exp Med
Here, we developed a novel Chinese hamster genetic quality detection system using single‐nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers following this process. To obtain SNP loci, we conducted whole genome sequencing on 24 Chinese hamsters. Then, we employed an SNP loci screening criterion that we set up previously and initially screened 214 SNP loci with wide ...
