Strength Reduction Technique for Non-Linear Failure Criterion

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
In the analysis of slope stability, a reduction method of non-linear shear strength was applied. A power function was used to approximate the shear failure envelope which is determined by the non-linear criterion or experimental data, and then the coefficients of that function were determined by using the collocation points.

Practical Criterion for Estimation of Notch Fatigue Strength

Computer Technology and Applications, 2004
In the present study, a practical criterion for the estimation of the fatigue strength of notched specimens is discussed from a practical standpoint of design and maintenance of machines and structures. First of all, a hypothesis of “Fatigue Plastic Adaption” is proposed as one idea that is available to combine microscopic and macroscopic approaches to

Hoek–Brown Strength Criterion for Actively Confined Concrete

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2009
The application of the Hoek – Brown empirical strength criterion to actively confined concrete is investigated. A large database of experimental results on hydraulically and triaxially confined concrete is reviewed and analyzed. The normalized two-parameter Hoek – Brown criterion provides a simpler and more robust fit than theoretical and empirical ...

General Strength Criterion for Geomaterials Including Anisotropic Effect

International Journal of Geomechanics, 2011
The strengths of geomaterials and their variation under different factors are investigated in this paper. First, a general isotropic variation of a strength criterion is proposed for describing the critical state and peak strengths of geomaterials. Second, the proposed criterion is extended to describe the effect of anisotropy on the peak strength ...

Homogenised strength criterion for natural fibre-reinforced composite

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications
A representative model for multilayer natural fibre composite (NFC) plates is introduced to investigate its homogenised strength criterion. A three-layer NFC plate model is used to analyse the local stress–strain characteristics in multi-layered NFC.
