Critical Times for the Critical Depth Theory

Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans
AbstractCritical Depth Hypothesis is arguably one of the longest standing biophysical theories in oceanography and is the earliest mathematically formulated theory aimed at explaining the phenomenon of phytoplankton blooms. It introduces a depth horizon, termed the critical depth, at which the integrated primary production from the surface to that ...

“Critical probing depths” in periodontal therapy

Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1982
Abstract The present investigation was carried out on 15 individuals who were referred for treatment of moderately advanced periodontal disease. All patients were first subjected to a Baseline examination comprising assessment of oral hygiene and gingival conditions, probing depths and attachment levels.

The Normal Depth and Critical Depth of Special Cross-Section

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
In water diversion project and water delivery project, horseshoe cross-section and circular cross-section are commonly used. The hydraulic elements of nonstandard horseshoe shape and circular shape are difficult to calculate because of their complex section.

Data-Based Defense-in-Depth of Critical Systems

2020
Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) are attracting intense research interest due to the explosive availability of data and connectivity. The Dynamic Data Driven Applications Systems (DDDAS) paradigm provides a suitable framework for solutions to the risks of connectivity through big data and machine learning.

NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS OF THE UPPER CRITICAL DEPTH PROBLEM

13th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1975
The phenomenon of upper critical depth occurs when a spherical charge of explosive is detonated near the surface of the ocean or other large body of water. For different depths of charge center it is found that the maximum surface wave resulting from the explosion corresponds to a position approximately one half charge radius below the surface.
