Long-Range Critical Wetting: Observation of a Critical End Point

Physical Review Letters, 2004
Alkanes deposited on aqueous substrates exhibit two different types of wetting behavior: alternatively to the usual first-order wetting transition, a sequential-wetting scenario of a long-range critical wetting transition preceded by a first-order thin-thick transition may be observed.

Quark Number Susceptibility around the Chiral Critical End Point

, 2015
We calculate the quark number susceptibility (QNS) around the chiral critical end point (CEP). The CEP is found to be located at (μc, Tc) = (80 MeV, 148 MeV) where μc and Tc are the critical chemical potential and temperature, respectively.

Classical behavior of the critical end point

Ferroelectrics, 1988
Abstract The three-dimensional phase diagram in the vicinity of the critical end point has been calculated using the universal unfolding of the batterfly potential. Contour representations of the order parameter and responses have been also given.

Determining End Points for Critical Limb Ischemia Interventions

Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2016
Critical limb ischemia is a condition that has increased in prevalence and carries a high degree of morbidity. Although endovascular therapy for treatment of patients with critical limb ischemia has undergone significant advances with improved outcomes over the past decade, these patients often have multilevel disease, and it may take weeks or months ...

Critical end point behaviour near and away from a tricritical point

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1987
Measurements are reported of the intensity and the angular dissymmetry of light scattered from 'quasi-binary' and binary mixtures of ethane and heavier hydrocarbons, that have varying widths of the three-phase region $(\Delta T)$. The critical exponents $\gamma$ and $\nu$ are estimated by approaching the Lower Critical End Points (LCEP) from the two ...

Phase Front Near the Critical End Point as the Boundary of the Polar Nanoregions in Relaxor Ferroelectrics

, 2011
The static modulation structure of the phase front at the field-induced first-order transition point near the critical end point (CEP) was discussed on the basis of the Landau-type free-energy function. It was confirmed that the field E dependence of the

Surface amplitude ratios near a critical end point

Physical Review Letters, 1991
We provide the first experimental test of the universality of a surface amplitude ratio near a critical end point by measuring the modified critical adsorption amplitude ratio, ${\mathit{R}}_{\mathit{M}\mathit{A}}$, for the liquid mixtures aniline+cyclohexane and isobutyric acid+water.
