Critical end point and universality class of neutron ^{3}P_{2} superfluids in neutron stars
We study the thermodynamics and critical behavior of neutron ^{3}P_{2} superfluids in the inner cores of neutron stars. ^{3}P_{2} superfluids offer a rich phase diagram including uniaxial/biaxial nematic phases, the ferromagnetic phase, and the cyclic ...

Use of smart meters as feedback for district heating temperature control
Smart meters implemented at the end-user in the energy sector create the opportunity to develop data-intelligent methods for district heating systems by using a large amount of fine-granular heat consumption time series from end-users.

Manipulating a single adsorbed DNA for a critical endpoint [PDF]
We show the existence of a critical endpoint in the phase diagram of unzipping of an adsorbed double-stranded (ds) polymer like DNA. The competition of base pairing, adsorption and stretching by an external force leads to the critical end point.

Existence of positive ground state solutions of critical nonlinear Klein–Gordon–Maxwell systems
In this paper we study the following nonlinear Klein–Gordon–Maxwell system \begin{equation*} \begin{cases}-\Delta u+ [m_0^2-(\omega+\varphi)^2]u=f(u)&\text{in}~ \mathbb R^3,\\ \Delta \varphi=(\omega+\varphi)u& \text{in}~ \mathbb R^3, \end{cases} \end ...

Chiral symmetry restoration and the critical end point in QCD
In a system of quark matter we study the chiral phase transition, the behavior of the chiral and quark number susceptibility and the CEP at finite temperature and chemical potential.

Locating the critical end point of QCD [PDF]
We summarize recent results for the phase structure of QCD at finite temperature and light-quark chemical potential for N_f=2+1 and N_f=2+1+1 dynamical quark flavors. We discuss order parameters for the chiral and deconfinement transitions obtained from solutions of a coupled set of (truncated) Dyson-Schwinger equations for the quark and gluon ...

A review of end-point carbon prediction for BOF steelmaking process
The precise prediction of end-point carbon content in liquid steel plays a critical role in increasing productivity as well as energy efficiency that can be achieved in the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steelmaking process.

On the place of sonic points in a critical flow [PDF]
Stationary irrotational barotropic gas flows are investigated on the basis of the analysis of three-dimensional Euler equations. Critical flows in the article are those in which the Mach number is everywhere less than or equal to one, and at least at one

The critical end point through observables [PDF]
We develop the model of the critical phenomena of strongly interacting matter at high temperatures and baryon densities. The dual Yang-Mills theory with scalar degrees of freedom (the dilatons) is used. The dilatons are the consequence of a spontaneous breaking of a scale symmetry.
