This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Boiling two-phase pressure drop in small diameter tubes
An experimental study of two-phase pressure drop in small diameter tubes is described in this paper. Stainless steel tubes of internal diameter and length of 4.26 mm, 500 mm and 2.01 mm, 211 mm were used. The working fluid was R134a and the range covered

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Heat transfer to impacting drops and post critical heat flux dispersed flow
Heat transfer to drops impacting on a hot surface is examined in context of dispersions of flowing, boiling fluids. The liquid contribution to heat transfer from a hot tube to a two-phase dispersion is formulated in terms of heat transfer contributions ...

Model of critical heat flux in subcooled flow boiling [PDF]
The physical phenomenon occurring before and at the critical heat flux (CHF) for subcooled flow boiling has been investigated. The first phase of this study established the basic nature of the flow structure at CHF.

Saturated flow boiling heat transfer and critical heat flux in small horizontal flattened tubes
This paper presents experimental results for flow boiling heat transfer coefficient and critical heat flux (CHF) in small flattened tubes. The tested flattened tubes have the same equivalent internal diameter of 2.2 mm, but different aspect height/width ...

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
