DC UPS for Critical Loads

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IJECE), 2015
<p>The usual way to avoid a computer shutdown during a mains failure is to connect an  uninterruptible power supply system (UPS), which can be suitably modified and fitted inside the computer cabinet by the use of proposed methodology known as a dc UPS.

The effect of ion plated silver and sliding friction on tensile stress-induced cracking in aluminum oxide [PDF]

open access: yes
A Hertzian analysis of the effect of sliding friction on contact stresses in alumina is used to predict the critical load for crack generation. The results for uncoated alumina and alumina coated with ion plated silver are compared.

A review on the mechanical properties for thin film and block structure characterised by using nanoscratch test

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2019
The nanoscratch test has been identified as one of the important tools for evaluating the mechanical and tribological properties of materials. This paper reviews the current researches on the nanoscratch test using to characterise the mechanical ...

A Structural Safety Analysis of Buildings During Construction [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The safety of steel buildings, constructed by the tier method, is evaluated. The probability of failure of steel frames supported on temporary connections is examined during the different stages of completion.

Mechanical behavior of irregular fibers part III : the flexural buckling behavior

open access: yes, 2002
Fiber buckling behavior is associated with fabric-evoked prickle, which affects clothing comfort and aesthetics. In this paper, the flexural buckling behavior of irregular or nonuniform fibers is studied using the finite element method (FEM).

Tribocontact surface exploration after friction in hexanoic acid solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2019
Introduction. The paper considers the evolution of friction coefficient of the pair of copper - steel alloy under friction in a hexanoic acid solution in various concentrations, and antiwear properties of the steel-steel friction pair in an oil-acidic ...

Cascade Failure in a Phase Model of Power Grids

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a phase model to study cascade failure in power grids composed of generators and loads. If the power demand is below a critical value, the model system of power grids maintains the standard frequency by feedback control.

Characterizing the uncertainty in holddown post load measurements [PDF]

open access: yes
In order to understand unexpectedly erratic load measurements in the launch-pad supports for the space shuttle, the sensitivities of the load cells in the supports were analyzed using simple probabilistic techniques.
