The metrics of glycaemic control in critical care

Intensive Care Medicine, 2011
Trials of tight glucose control have compared measures of central tendency, such as average blood glucose, and yielded conflicting results. Other metrics, such as standard deviation, reflect different properties of glucose control and are also associated with changes in outcome.

Software metrics: A critical evaluation and an application to Pascal [PDF]

open access: yesMicroprocessing and Microprogramming, 1986
Abstract This paper is made up of two parts. The first is critical assessment of current models for software metrics, namely Halstead's and McCabe's. The two approaches are deeply and critically examined in order to point out their weakness, both in the underlying theory and in their experimental validation.

Critical metrics of the trace of the heat kernel on a compact manifold [PDF]

open access: yesJournal Des Mathematiques Pures Et Appliquees, 2002
International audienceThis paper is devoted to the study of critical metrics of the trace of the heat kernel on a compact manifold. We obtain various characterizations of such metrics and investigate their geometric properties.

On a class of critical Riemann--Finsler metrics

Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen, 2008
Starting from a compact Finsler manifold, and using the Ricci scalar arising from the flag curvature tensor, the authors introduce the normalized Einstein-Hilbert functional on the analogy of the normalized Riemannain manifold. They derive the Euler-Lagrange equation for the Finslerian functional.
