Singularities of the Partition Function for the Ising Model Coupled to 2d Quantum Gravity [PDF]
We study the zeros in the complex plane of the partition function for the Ising model coupled to 2d quantum gravity for complex magnetic field and real temperature, and for complex temperature and real magnetic field, respectively.

An efficient algorithm for critical plane factors evaluation
Fatigue of structural components is a widely discussed subject on which extensive research is still being carried out, both in the scientific and industrial communities. Fatigue damage still represents a major issue for both metallic and non-metallic components, sometimes leading to unforeseen failures for in-service parts.

Fatigue assessment of a FSAE car rear upright by a closed form solution of the critical plane method
Material fatigue is extensively discussed and researched within scientific and industrial communities. Fatigue damage poses a significant challenge for both metallic and non-metallic components, often resulting in unexpected failures of in-service parts.

Multiaxial fatigue of aluminium friction stir welded joints: preliminary results [PDF]
The aim of the present research is to check the accuracy of the Modified Wöhler Curve Method (MWCM) in estimating the fatigue strength of friction stir (FS) welded tubular joints of Al 6082-T6 subjected to in-phase and out-of-phase multiaxial fatigue ...

Anomalous Superconducting Properties and Field Induced Magnetism in CeCoIn5
In the heavy fermion superconductor CeCoIn5 (Tc=2.3K) the critical field is large, anisotropic and displays hysteresis. The magnitude of the critical-field anisotropy in the a-c plane can be as large as 70 kOe and depends on orientation.

Fast assessment of the critical principal stress direction for multiple separated multiaxial loadings [PDF]
The critical plane calculation for multiaxial damage assessment is often a demanding task, particularly for large FEM models of real components.

Partition function zeros of the Q-state Potts model on the simple-cubic lattice
The $Q$-state Potts model on the simple-cubic lattice is studied using the zeros of the exact partition function on a finite lattice. The critical behavior of the model in the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic phases is discussed based on the ...

Rolling Contact Fatigue Life of Rail for Different Slip Conditions
A three-dimensional elastic-plastic finite element analysis (FEA) is carried out to estimate the rolling contact fatigue (RCF) crack initiation life for varied slip range on the rail arising from operational variations.

Out-Plane Buckling of Arches with Variable Cross-Section
The variable cross-section arch is widely used in practical engineering because of its beautiful arc and excellent mechanical properties. However, there is still no systematic and comprehensive study on the out-plane buckling of variable cross-section ...
