Streamwise oscillations of cylinders near the critical Reynolds number
Journal of Fluids and Structures, 1987The purpose of the research reported here is to attempt to clarify the conditions under which in-line oscillations of a circular cylinder occur, and to establish the oscillation characteristics. A mathematical model has been developed which attempts to represent a cylinder vibrating in the streamwise direction.

On the Lower Critical Reynolds Number for Flow in a Circular Pipe
Fluid Dynamics, 2003Flow in a circular pipe is investigated experimentally at Reynolds numbers higher than that at which the resistance coefficients calculated from the Blasius formula for laminar flow and from the Prandtl formula for turbulent flow are equal. The corresponding Reynolds number based on the mean-flow velocity and the pipe diameter is about 1000.

Critical Reynolds Number and Flow Permeability
American Journal of Physics, 1954Liquids of three different viscosities have been used in determining the flow permeability of fourteen media composed of spherical glass beads. Darcy's law has been found to hold for a Reynolds number up to 75. Three methods are given for determining the average bead diameters.
