Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Early-Age Response of Concrete Pavements to Temperature and Moisture Variations

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2010
In this paper, the early-age response of a Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement (JPCP) to temperature and moisture variations at the time of paving and immediately following construction is discussed. A newly constructed JPCP on US-30 near Marshalltown, Iowa,

Factors on the Mesozoic Transition From Flat to Steep Subduction of the Paleo‐Pacific Plate Beneath South China: Thickened Oceanic Crust and Subduction Rate

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2022
In the Mesozoic, the age of Paleo‐Pacific plate that flatly subducted beneath the South China was ∼80 Ma, resulting in a cold and dense oceanic slab. The transition process from flat to steep subduction of this old slab and factors that affect it are ...

The Slab Critical Thickness Problem with Reflecting Boundary Condition for the Anlı-Güngör Scattering Function

open access: yesCumhuriyet Science Journal, 2023
The criticality equation, which defines the relation between the secondary neutron number and the thickness of the slab, and the numerical solutions of this equation are investigated with reflecting boundary condition for the recently studied the Anlı ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Modulating Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Pathways via Interfacial Electric Field

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering interfacial electric fields in Cu/ITO electrodes enables precise control of CO2 reduction pathways. Charge transfer from Cu to ITO generates positively charged Cu species that steer selectivity from ethylene toward methane. This work demonstrates how interfacial electric‐field modulation can direct reaction intermediates and transform ...

The effect of propagation saw test geometries on critical cut length [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences
For a slab avalanche to release, a crack in a weak snow layer beneath a cohesive snow slab has to initiate and propagate. Information on crack propagation is essential for assessing avalanche triggering potential.
