Subsurface Expression of the Lambton Fault and Potential for the Basin Edge Effect in the Wellington Central Business District

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
This study focuses on the subsurface structure of the Wellington basin and an assessment of the shaking potential due to the basin edge‐effect at its western margin. Seismic reflection surveys combined with gravity modelling provide data for a structural model from which to base our shaking analysis.

Carrier Transport in Electrically‐Driven Photonic Crystal Membrane Lasers

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 5, 6 March 2026.
A model to study carrier transport in photonic crystal lasers with a buried heterostructure active region and a lateral current injection scheme is presented. The model identifies unconventional leakage paths which explain low injection efficiencies and enhanced recombination at the p‐doping interface observed experimentally.

A Heavy‐Duty Vehicle Routing Problem With Temperature Constraints

open access: yesNetworks, Volume 87, Issue 2, Page 131-150, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This article studies a vehicle routing problem involving a fleet of heavy‐duty vehicles and pickup‐and‐delivery requests for crude items that are both heavy and high‐temperature. The objective is to route the fleet in such a way that maximizes resource efficiency and operational efficiency while simultaneously avoiding thermal overload of any ...

Toward Large Nonradiating Qubits: When Quantum Engineering Meets Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
Nonradiating superconducting qubits suppress radiative losses through photonic‐inspired mechanisms such as anapole states and bound states in the continuum (BICs). This review surveys theoretical foundations and recent implementations of large, wavelength‐scale qubits that confine electromagnetic energy while maintaining coherence.

Correlation‐Driven d‐Band Modifications Promote Chemical Bonding at 3d‐Ferromagnetic Surfaces

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
Electron correlation at the oxygen‐passivated Fe(100) surface renormalizes and narrows the Fe d‐bands, enhancing their energetic overlap with the frontier orbitals of adsorbed pentacene. This strengthens hybridization and converts a weakly bound interface into a chemisorbed hybrid system, illustrating how correlation‐tuned d‐bands can be used to ...
