The response of tissue to trauma is difficult to define. The zone of injury is an area surrounding a wound that, though traumatized, may not appear nonviable at initial debridement. Because of this, a policy of repeated debridements has been followed to monitor tissues for viability before final tissue coverage.

Abstract River systems, which include channels, floodplains, and hyporheic zones, integrate fluxes of water, sediment, and solutes that occur within and beyond drainage basin boundaries. River systems thus exemplify the definition of the Critical Zone as a heterogeneous, near-surface environment in which complex interactions regulate habitat and ...

Infrastructures – a primer for the Critical Zone
This presentation will articulate a metaphor about painting. If it is successful, you should be convinced that there are things out there that, if we made better use of them, would significantly enhance our understanding of the critical zone. Before working on the actual painting, most artists apply one or more coats of primer.Martyn Futter +6 more
