Arc-evaporated CrN, CrN and CrCN coatings

Vacuum, 2008
Abstract The results of investigations of some tribological properties of chromium nitride, carbonitride and carbide films, prepared by cathodic arc-evaporation method (CAE) are presented in this article. The chemical composition of films was determined by the WDXs and EDXs.

Multi-technique study of corrosion resistant CrN/Cr/CrN and CrN:C coatings

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2006
The three-layer CrN/Cr/CrN coatings were deposited on three types of steel substrates by means of PVD. The second series of these coatings was implanted with nanoclusters of carbon by using a pulsed microplasma cluster source. The physical and chemical properties of the coatings were investigated by using a multi-technique approach.

Exchange bias in CrN/Co nanocomposites consisting of CrN-coated Co nanocapsules and CrN nanoparticles

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2009
Nanocomposites consisting of ferromagnetic (FM) CrN-coated Co nanocapsules and antiferromagnetic (AFM) CrN nanoparticles are synthesized by the arc-discharge technique. Exchange bias (EB) and magnetic properties of the CrN/Co nanocomposites have been investigated.

2017
Influence of high-voltage constant potential bias, pressure of nitrogen atmosphere, and thickness of layers on the phase and elemental composition, structure and mechanical properties of the composite multilayer coatings CrN/MoN, which were prepared by the nitrogen vacuum-arc evaporation in atmosphere, was studied. It was determined that when the layer

Residual Stress Measurements on CrN/Cr/CrN Multilayer PVD Coatings

2023
Hard physical vapour deposition (PVD) based coatings for wear and corrosion protection are successfully being applied in many engineering applications. Nitrides of transition metals, such as CrN, TiN, NbN, have been widely studied, however, because most vapour deposited coatings are relatively thin, they usually offer less resistance to the bulk ...

SIMS investigation of CrN sputtercoatings

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2002
Chromium nitride layers produced by reactive sputtering with different process parameters were characterized with EPMA, SIMS depth profiling, and three-dimensional SIMS imaging. EPMA results are used to quantify the major components of the films while SIMS is used to gather information about the distribution of the elements chromium, silicon, nitrogen,
