Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...

Recombination and transposition drive genomic structural variation potentially impacting life history traits in a host-generalist fungal plant pathogen

open access: yesBMC Biology
Background An understanding of plant pathogen evolution is important for sustainable management of crop diseases. Plant pathogen populations must maintain adequate heritable phenotypic variability to survive.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Plant ionome diagnosis using sound balances: case study with mango (Mangifera Indica)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
Plant ionomes and soil nutrients are commonly diagnosed in agronomy using concentration and nutrient ratio ranges. However, both diagnoses are biased by redundancy of information, subcompositional incoherence and non-normal distribution inherent to ...

Repeat-induced point mutations driving Parastagonospora nodorum genomic diversity are balanced by selection against non-synonymous mutations

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Parastagonospora nodorum is necrotrophic fungal pathogen of wheat with significant genomic resources. Population-level pangenome data for 173 isolates, of which 156 were from Western Australia (WA) and 17 were international, were examined for overall ...

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...
