Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Cracking susceptibility of sweet cherries (Prunus avium L.) under different conditions.

open access: yes, 2006
Rain and hail during ripening and harvesting season can cause yield losses up to 90 % in sweet cherry cultivations in Germany. Particularly, high yield losses after precipitation are due to the cracking and the following rotting process through bacteria ...

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Green synthesized nanoparticles for disease management in vegetable crops: A review

open access: yesPlant Nano Biology
Vegetables are an important part of our diet and provide essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins that are beneficial to human health. Vegetables are known as protective foods as they promote the uptake of nutrients, fiber and other components. Present

3D‐Printed Titanium Gyroid Scaffold Structure Integrated With Tough Hybrid Materials for Cartilage Replacement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a potential device design for joint cartilage replacement. Silica‐polytetrahydrofuran (SiO2‐PolyTHF) hybrids with customizable mechanical properties were developed to mimic the characteristics of a natural meniscus. These were synthesized through a two‐pot sol–gel hybrid process.

Breeding rice for rice yellow mottle virus resistance in Sub-Saharan Africa: a review

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Scandinavica. Section B, Soil and Plant Science, 2019
Rice is the world’s second most produced staple cereal crop after wheat. Currently, rice production and consumption have steadily increased in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). To date, rice is the largest imported commodity crop in the region.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Use of Chemical Pesticides for Crop Protection-A Critical Analysis

open access: yesAnusandhaan - Vigyaan Shodh Patrika, 2019
The application of chemical pesticides for pest control is quite common. However, due to lack of proper knowledge about type, dose and time of application, the farmer often suffers both in terms of crop loss and health. Often, the deaths in rural areas are related to pesticides use. Several technologies related to crop protection have been developed by
